Mix recorded from live broadcast at on 2018 Aug 12. Support the station!

It was a cloudy, slightly quiet Sunday in Boston when I did this set, and so the song selection reflects it. Late in the set, folks asked if I might go a bit long, so I did; BUT, I don't really like the last 2-3 songs, or the mixes. So, well, ok - it happens.

I was in Ibiza during the blood moon of August 2018, and I hadn't yet had a chance to do a show since then. But the viewing of it from the White Island was amazing, and left a lasting impression in my memory. So, this set is the kind of thing I might have played that night had I been spinning on at someplace like Blue Marlin, or another lovely beach club.

Book review: One Way

on Fri, 07/06/2018 - 19:56

The Martian meets "whodunnit".

I thought The Martian (which got lucky enough to get made into a movie) was good, but not as good as the hype. Though the continuing series of "sciencing" stuff in order to stay alive was interesting, it got old.

In contrast, this book (One Way) is pretty much all The Martian was, PLUS it had an interesting "whodunnit" plot that added to the interest.  Plus, it had more interesting characters, with a more plausible set of circumstances.

The main character is that perfect melange of flawed hero.

Having just played a fairly clubby set at the station two days ago, those motivations were out of my system. So, I stayed with a simple deep feel for this set. Also, dinner was going to be later for me this night, so I went an extra half an hour.

Nice, eh?
