This was an impromptu set. It was Saturday morning, and I had nothing to do, and felt musical. So I jumped on before Neonlogic played, which meant my set could only be one hour.

PS – and yes, I know the name of this podcast is super-similar to my one named Shorty. But I didn’t remember this until after I’d done the artwork & the MP3 mastering, and didn’t want to re-work it all. So, there ya go.

For a time in the mid-1990’s I was an analyst at Forrester Research, in its Network Strategy Service. Last week's Distributed Denial of Service attack waged against Dyn recalls a report I wrote that I still consider groundbreaking.

I asked George Colony, CEO/Founder of Forrester, if I could reproduce it here because I believe the technique I used — called scenario building — is a credible way for businesses from startup to global to generate useful insights about risk, and opportunity.

It was Friday night, and I felt like some full-on music, like you’d hear when you’re out at a nightclub. No jazzy deep house. No cutesy pop EDM. But full-throated, whompy bass that you feel in your body when you have a big sound system playing.

So I jumped in after Unknown Tone‘s normal set to play a short, unscheduled night. Out.

Let me forewarn you that I decided to go increasingly harder, trending all the way to Tech House, after the first (relatively chill) 45 minutes of the set. Hang on for the ride! (Thanks to all the loungers in chat that hung on for the ride!) Tracklist at Dogglounge or MIxcloud.

Footnote: I got a twofer today. My local (american) football team (New England Patriots) won their game on this day. So did my favorite professional cyclist (Peter Sagan). So, when I needed a name for my set, winner just seems apropos.

This was my 25th set at Dogglounge – at least counting from when I started playing a named, committed-time set on Sundays (and not counting the “guest” sets I did before I was invited to start playing regularly).
